Newswire: Two new Mean Girls projects are in the works, only one of which exists solely in Lindsay Lohan’s head

We’ll be honest: We weren’t expecting to spend the penultimate day of 2016 writing about two separate projects centered on a 12-year-old vehicle for the nonsense word “fetch.” But that’s exactly what’s happening, with two different takes on Tina Fey’s high school classic Mean Girls making headlines today; one in the world of theater, and the other pretty much only in the mystical, nostalgic dreamworld that exists in star Lindsay Lohan’s head.

First up: The New York Times is reporting that Fey and her husband, composer Jeff Richmond, are finally following through on their plans to give Mean Girls the musical treatment. The stage version of the film—produced by Broadway veteran Stuart Thompson, and directed by The Book Of Mormon’s Casey Nicholaw—will hit Washington D.C.’s National Theater this fall, with Legally Blond songwriter Nell Benjamin turning all your favorite …
