Newswire: Tonight’s Tony Awards will be dedicated to victims of the Orlando shooting

As everyone is surely aware, a gunman opened fire inside Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, late last night, killing 50 people and wounding at least 53 more who were there to attend Latin night at the club. The shooting was reportedly the deadliest in American history, and President Obama has declared it “an act of terror and an act of hate.”

Now, Deadline is reporting that the team behind tonight’s Tony Awards have announced that the show will go on as planned, but it will be dedicated to the victims of the shooting. The show’s producers have also released a statement, saying, “Our hearts are heavy for the unimaginable tragedy that happened last night. Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those affected.
