Newswire: Tina Fey is done explaining her jokes to the internet

Netflix’s The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was widely regarded as an aggressively delightful show, but one storyline in particular stuck out to a lot of viewers as being a bit rough. It was—as much as some people may hate the word—problematic. Basically, one episode revealed in a flashback that Jane Krakowski’s character is actually a Native American, and she changed her appearance to look white in hopes of being more successful. It was presumably intended to be more absurdist than racist, but it definitely whipped up a bit of controversy among internet people.
