Newswire: The Writers Guild is a fan of Stranger Things, The Americans, and Westworld

This year, HBO’s Westworld introduced one of the most accurate writer characters in TV history with Simon Quarterman’s Lee Sizemore, a drunken whiner who isn’t very good at his job and yet keeps getting high-profile work that he just screws up anyway. Naturally, then, the Writers Guild Of America has decided to honor that show with a pair of nominations for its end-of-year awards, specifically Best Drama Series and Best New Series. 2016 was a good year for TV (and very little else), though, so Westworld is going to have plenty of competition from the other WGA nominees.

In the Best Drama Series category, the competition includes The Americans, Better Call Saul, Stranger Things, and Game Of Thrones, with the Best Comedy category getting Atlanta, Silicon Valley, Transparent, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and Veep.
