Newswire: The Daily Show’s Ronny Chieng lands his own Comedy Central series

Even without Jon Stewart in the anchor chair, The Daily Show continues to be a stepping stone for young comedians. Less than a year after making his debut as a correspondent on the satirical news show, Ronny Chieng is getting his own Comedy Central series. As Splitsider reports, the Malaysian-born comedian is headlining International Student, an autobiographical sitcom he co-created about his time studying law in Melbourne, Australia.

“We all came [to Melbourne] for a few years, we studied, then all my friends left—they went back to Singapore, Malaysia. It almost feels like a dream.
