Newswire: Sony to begin selling virtual reality headsets next year

Sony announced Tuesday at the Game Developers Conference that it would be soon be bringing virtual reality glasses to the market. Consistent with regulations requiring that VR glasses be given super-dorky names, the project is currently code-named Project Morpheus. Presumably as an attempt to interest people in staring at something besides its hacked emails, Sony plans to put the goggles on sale in the first half of 2016.

Sony actually debuted the headset last year, but the Playstation 4-compatible peripherals have some noticeable improvements. These updates include a larger screen, bigger field of vision, more comfortable weighting, and 120 fps. The Morpheus goggles also boast nine exterior LED lights for tracking movement, like high-fiving virtual friends while you sit alone in your darkened living room.
