Newswire: R.E.M. is suing Donald Trump and Ted Cruz for $2.5 million

Last week, R.E.M.—and especially frontman Michael Stipe—went off on Donald Trump after he inexplicably played “It’s The End Of The World” during a campaign event without permission. The band released a statement demanding that any and all political candidates stop using their music, while also adding that “grandstanding politicians” shouldn’t distract American voters from “the pressing issues of the day.” Stipe put things less politely in a message that was passed along on Twitter which said, simply, “Go fuck yourselves, the lot of you—you sad, attention grabbing, power-hungry little men. Do not use our music or my voice for your moronic charade of a campaign.” So yeah, they seemed pretty pissed about the whole thing.
