Newswire: Praise Tori Spelling, Lifetime is launching its own VOD service

The streaming wars have a new, baby-snatching, husband-stealing, psychotic warrior on the battlefield, as Lifetime announces that it’s launching a new subscription VOD service based entirely around Lifetime Original Movies. Called Lifetime Movie Club, the service will cost $3.99 a month and will include an initial library of 30 movies, which will be refreshed weekly. So you’ll have to get on it quick if, say, Drew Peterson: Untouchable pops up one day.

The movies will be organized into Netflix-style playlists with names like “Summer Lovin’,” “Murder & Mayhem,” and “Dramatic Affairs.” Speaking of: A handful of Lifetime movies are currently available on Netflix, including the appealingly titled Restless Virgins and She Made Them Do It and the pulpy true-crime movie Jodi Arias: Dirty Little Secret.
