Newswire: Maria Bamford’s Lady Dynamite hits Netflix in May

Last summer, Maria Bamford landed her own comedy series at Netflix, to the delight of fans of her dynamic stand-up, hilarious guest spots on Arrested Development and Kroll Show, or her extensive voiceover work, which includes roles on Adventure Time and BoJack Horseman (truly, there’s something for everyone). The half-hour comedy will tell the story of a woman, loosely based on Bamford, who “loses—and then finds—her shit”. (The reveal of that lower-case “h” presumably rules out our idea for a story about a character named Lady Dynamite who finds a superpowered suit, possibly in a mansion, a la Ant-Man.)

Now Bamford has announced that the 12-episode series will hit Netflix on May 20, a date that’s also notable for being the day on which Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart piloted the first non-stop solo flights across the Atlantic (in 1927 and 1932, respectively). We assume that …
