Newswire: La La Land and Moonlight lead the 2017 Golden Globes nominations

It’s been a good 12 hours for La La Land. After the Ryan Gosling-Emma Stone musical cleaned up at the Critics Choice Awards last night, it went on to collect the most Golden Globe nominations of any film, seven in total, when those were announced by Anna Kendrick, Laura Dern, and Don Cheadle this morning. Damien Chazelle’s homage to old Hollywood received a nod for Best Motion Picture, Musical Or Comedy; Stone and Gosling each got recognition in their respective acting categories; and Chazelle was nominated in Best Director and Best Screenplay. In both those categories, he’ll go up against Barry Jenkins for Moonlight, which collected six nods, and Kenneth Lonergan for Manchester By The Sea, which garnered five.
