Newswire: Josh Trank is back, making an Al Capone movie with Tom Hardy
It’s been a year since Chronicle director Josh Trank’s career potentially flamed off with the high-profile superhero flop Fantastic Four. Now Trank is back, writing and directing on a project that’s decidedly closer to his low-budget roots: a story about the final days of notorious gangster Al Capone, with Tom Hardy in the leading role.
Fonzo—as in, Alphonse Capone—will star Hardy as the aging crimelord, who’s now in dire straits as his mind starts to slip: “After nearly a decade of imprisonment,” a press release description reads, “Dementia rots his mind and his past becomes present as harrowing memories of his violent and brutal origins melt into his waking life.”
