Newswire: Jennifer Lawrence to submerge herself in James Cameron-produced biopic

Jennifer Lawrence has signed on to star in the James Cameron-produced biopic The Dive, about a free-diving couple competing to see who can go the deepest underwater on a single breath of air. According to The Wrap, the film will be directed by Francis Lawrence, who helmed the last two Hunger Games films and is currently finishing work on Mockingjay—Part 2. Cameron, of course, has laid claim to the entire ocean and does not permit other filmmakers to work in his territory without giving him a piece of the action.

The Dive tells the story of Francisco “Pipin” Ferraras and his wife Audrey Mestre, played in the film by Lawrence. Mestre died during an attempt to beat her own record of 557.7 feet, and Ferraras sought to honor his wife by diving to the same depth—an attempt that was filmed by Cameron himself, who may have just …
