Newswire: Felicity Jones and Suspiria’s Luca Guadagnino take Swan Lake for a spin

Now that her standard-issue space vest and dusty dungarees have been returned to the Lucasflm costume department, Felicity Jones is donning a tutu. The Hollywood Reporter has details on what it describes as a “hot pitch” starring Jones, a feature-length adaptation of Swan Lake. Unlike Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan, the article clarifies, this particular film will actually follow the plot of Tchaikovsky’s classic ballet, about a princess who is turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer. Jones is attached to star as Odette, the aforementioned enchanted aristocrat.

Several studios are currently competing to produce the film, which also has Italian director Luca Guadagnino—who’s currently in post-production on another ballet-adjacent project, a remake of Dario Argento’s Italian horror classic Suspiria—on board.
