Newswire: Clea DuVall’s directorial debut will be a partial But I’m A Cheerleader reunion

Clea DuVall is set to make her directorial debut, and all we really know about the feature film—other than the fact that it will indeed be directed, written, and will star DuVall—is that its cast is stacked. DuVall is bringing in Cobie Smulders, Melanie Lynskey, Jason Ritter, Natasha Lyonne, Vincent Piazza, Ben Schwartz, and Alia Shawkat for her mysterious new project, which begs the question: Is this a But I’m A Cheerleader sequel?

Lyonne and DuVall, who starred as young lovers who meet at a gay conversion therapy camp in Jamie Babbit’s 1999 lesbian cult comedy, are already set to reunite in Babbit’s upcoming Addicted To Fresno. So there’s already one But I’m A Cheerleader reunion on the horizon. But DuVall’s untitled project also includes Lynskey, who was part of the supporting cast of But I’m A Cheerleader.
