Newswire: Brad Bird makes Incredibles 2 a priority while flirting with Star Wars

A sequel to Brad Bird’s The Incredibles may be the film that Pixar fans clamor for the most. Perhaps sensing our collective sequel outcry—and deciding to mess with us a bit—Pixar has responded with Cars 2, Toy Story 3, and Monsters University. Bird, meanwhile, went on to direct Ratatouille before jumping into live action with Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.

And as the release of his new film, Tomorrowland, approaches, Bird has apparently been flirting with an even bigger live-action franchise. When asked about the vacancy created by Josh Trank’s departure in a new interview with Collider, Bird said he had talked with Star Wars Grand Moff Kathleen Kennedy, admitting, “Kathy and I have discussed the possibility of—I mean she’s basically saying this is a very large sandbox and other people can play in it.” Bird quickly backed off, however, asking the interviewers to “just …
