Newswire: Amy Adams will star in the TV version of Gillian Flynn’s Sharp Objects
A TV adaptation of Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn’s first novel, Sharp Objects, has been in the works in Hollywood for a few years now, with Buffy The Vampire Slayer writer and UnREAL co-creator Marti Noxon attached to executive produce. Now, Variety is reporting that the series has taken a huge step forward in its efforts to make it onto TV screens, having signed on multiple Oscar nominee Amy Adams in a starring role.
Adams will play the novel’s protagonist, reporter Camille Preaker, who’s forced to return to her hometown in order to cover the actions of a local serial killer. While there, she’ll also have to contend with all sorts of psychological damage, past and present, including her controlling mother, a history of self-harm that led to a recent stint in a psychiatric hospital, and a lot of comparisons to Rosamund Pike.
