Contest: Chicago, see Adam McKay’s The Big Short early and for free

One of the more poignant moments to come from a big studio comedy in quite some time, the end credits of Adam McKay’s The Other Guys memorably called out Wall Street greed through a well-designed presentation of statistics and infographics. Clearly a major point of interest for McKay, this year’s The Big Short will see him revisiting some of these themes in a much more serious manner, enlisting some of the biggest names in Hollywood to help. Bewigged and channeling the mid-’00s, Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, Steve Carell, and Ryan Gosling will play a team of investors who make it their mission to expose the greed of the 1 percent. The film is a fictionalized account of Michael Lewis’ 2010 book of the same name, which examined the past decade’s economy-threatening housing and credit bubble.
