Coming Distractions: New Macbeth trailer as gloomy as the rest

The Weinstein Company has released the first official U.S. trailer for Justin Kurzel’s Macbeth, which is actually shorter than the official teaser trailer put out by StudioCanal U.K. earlier this summer, because apparently we’re all using different definitions of “teaser” and “trailer” these days. But despite its brevity, the trailer offers some new footage not seen in the two preview clips released in May or the teaser. The overall tone and look are the same: a gloomy and highly stylized take on the Macbeth tale that makes full use of the freedoms granted by staging the story on expansive movie sets.
