A.V. Undercover: The Weather Station covers Joy Division

The Weather Station revolves around singer-songwriter Tamara Lindeman, whose albums under the name evoke the gentlest, most powerful folk of years gone by, from Joni Mitchell to Smog. Here, she and her band amp things up considerably, tackling Joy Division’s oft-covered “Transmission” and bringing some new, banjo-assisted dimensions to it. The Weather Station’s latest album is the excellent Loyalty, which came out earlier this year. Enjoy.
